Included with this project are functions which help you create your entire document. With these functions, you can place lines, blocks of text, triangles, circles, boxes, bitmaps, etc. on your document. Once complete, the document is saved to disk with any file name or path you choose (example on next page).
Because the document/report is actually a disk file, it may be played back to the print previewer or printer at any time, allowing you to save prepared documents or reports for as long as your user needs. The documents are much like Windows metafiles which contain the page description map.
Once the document is complete, you simply show the preview window. It will play back the document to its page, allowing the user to turn pages, jump to pages, and print very quickly. This entire document was created during the startup of this program -- FAST!
WHAT SHOULD I ALREADY KNOW?
You should be comfortable using Visual Basic on a professional or somewhat advanced level. The source code includes API function declarations, file manipulation, and advanced device context theory. A great source of information is the Visual Basic Programmers Guide to the Windows API by Daniel Appleman.
WHAT DO I GET WHEN I ORDER?
I design code modules and forms which you can add to your program MAK files effortlessly. I only use external DLLs or VBXs when absolutely needed (you can modify modules to look like YOUR program). This project only uses 4 files; the preview form, a basic code module, the CBK.VBX (used for cancelling reports), and the APIGUIDE.DLL (used for very few functions). You will receive these 4 files then may alter and/or add the VB files to your project and start preparing reports and documents instantly.
Because everything is coded in Visual Basic, speed and versatility is no longer an issue. Have you ever tried to send a dynaset to Crystal Reports(r)? Well, stop trying!!! Since all your printing routines are native to your project, you have the power and flexibility needed to place any data on your reports, where YOU like it!
